DevOps - IT Technical Architect

Currently Scott is the Enterprise IT Technical Architect over the Change, Configuration, and Release Management and DevOps domains in USAA's CTO organization.

Scott is an experienced java developer with demonstrated leadership abilities. He has led teams to design systems, solve problems with new and innovative ideas, communicate business value of changes, and implement solutions. This has included strategic partnering with vendors to identify and implement solutions. He has a strong IT Operations background including expertise in Java Application Server (WebSphere and JBoss) administration and automation. Scott's combined development and operations background has proven valuable while leading leading the creation of USAA's DevOps journey, defining goals, communicating benefits, and driving change. Scott was a driving force behind transformational change in improving Configuration Management and Release processes which included doubling the enterprise software release cadence for USAA's primary application servers from monthly releases to every 2 week releases. This included delivering tooling and processes to allow farther improvements in delivery cycles in the future. He was selected by USAA Leadership to be part of a senior technical point of contact group (Site Commander). The role includes a rotational responsibility for organization wide return to service activities. Scott has presented at industry conferences including IBM Innovate and IBM Voice on topics related to the use of Rational Team Concert
